What are the costs of treatment?
The unit is non-profit making and therefore we are able to offer a competitive package.
This unit is non proffit making and therefore we are able to offer a competitive package. A list of current charges is show below. These charges include all treatment related costs including all consultations, drugs, early pregnancy monitoring and counselling.
We have no registration fees and no hidden charges.
This is a PACKAGE price per treatment cycle including HFEA fee (where appropriate), all consultations, drugs, monitoring, HIV tests, counselling and early pregnancy monitoring.
EXCLUDING - non-routine investigations, costs associated with embryo freezing and anaesthetic costs for patients who prefer to have egg collection under general anaesthesia in IVF or ICSI cycle.
When comparing costs, be sure that the quoted price includes all the above – ‘BEWARE OF HIDDEN COSTS’

Payment
Payment may be made by cash, cheque or credit card and is required on the day treatment starts. Please make cheques payable to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Treatment packages
Prices include all treatment related costs covering all consultations, drugs, monitoring, HFEA fees, counselling and early pregnancy monitoring.
The charges do not include non-routine investigations, embryo freezing and anaesthetic costs for patients who prefer to have egg collection under general anaesthesia in IVF or ICSI cycles.
Initial consultations and investigations to determine the cause of infertility or the choice of treatment are not included.
Drug costs
All drugs required for treatment are included in the costs. Once drugs have been issued we are unable to provide a refund, as they cannot be returned.
Cancelled cycles
Refunds will be made for cycles abandoned for medical reasons before egg collection or insemination. The amount of refund will be determined by the stage of treatment reached.
Donor Sperm from other centres
Donor sperm may be obtained from Sheffield and other UK centres; there will be a charge to cover the purchase and carriage of samples. The cost will vary according to the centre. Samples are not imported from outside the UK.
Egg donation
Patients will be required to pay part of their fee (£500) on registration to the programme. This is to cover the costs of consultations, screening and preparation of the donors. This is non-refundable
Assessment cycles
Women over the age of 40 undergoing treatment using their own eggs are required to undergo an assessment cycle to evaluate their ovarian function. We may also require younger patients in whom a poor response is suspected to undergo an assessment cycle.
Counselling
There is no separate charge for the counselling service for patients undergoing or who have had treatment in the Centre.
NHS funded patients
If you are on the waiting list for NHS funded treatment you may be able to self-fund a treatment cycle. It is advisable to check with the Centre whether this would jeopardise your funding status.
Satellite monitoring
Patients who live a distance from the Centre may be able to arrange monitoring locally. The Centre is not liable for the cost of this monitoring.
Treatment at other centres
We may be able to perform monitoring for patients undergoing treatment at other centres. Cost available on request.
Surrogacy
The costs for host surrogacy will depend upon individual circumstances. Please contact the Centre.
