The IVF laboratories at the Jessop Wing are some of the most highly advanced in the world. Our laboratories comply with the European Cells and Tissue Directive and HFEA standards, which means that we are able to offer all treatments under strict clean room conditions, resulting in high success and low risk to the patients samples. We also employ a state of the art electronic witnessing system, which shows our commitment to patient safety.
Our prority is to use our expertise and knowlegde to ensure you have the best chance from your treatment. The embryology team are committed to provide you with a personal service and will speak to you daily throughout your treatment, whilst your embryos are in the laboratory. Our aim is to select the best embryo available which will hopefully result in a healthy singleton birth.
We run a successful donor sperm bank recruiting local donors for use for our patients. The sperm samples are rigourously tested and quarantined prior to use.
The Embryology team is run by Rachel Cutting (Principal Embryologist and Person Responsible), who has over 16 years experience in the field. Senior Embryologists Jane Saxton and Helen Clarke, and Clinical embryologist Louise Winstone are qualified to degree and postgraduate level. Trainee Embryologists , Caitriona Meaney , Fiona Warrander , Vicki Brown , and Omoni Osemeikhian (pre registrant embryologist) are also part of a unique team of highly specialised individuals. Medical Laboratory Assistants Caron Brookfield and Denice Fowler act as support staff to the embryology team.
The Embryology team offers information and current advice regarding treatment and discuss results with the patients throughout the treatment process.
